Model release
A model release is a contract between the photographer and a model (or, for minors, their guardian) that grants the photographer rights to use the resulting images. It typically specifies the engagement type (paid, TFP, commission), the consented usage (editorial, commercial, social media, advertising), geography, duration, and any restrictions on derogatory or anonymising use. Most stock libraries, ad clients, and publishers require a signed release on file before using an image commercially.
Example
A standard release might grant worldwide commercial use of the images for two years across web, print, and social, with restrictions excluding alcohol, tobacco, and political advertising.
