Face charts for makeup artists

ShootVision's MUA tools were built with working artists, not photographers guessing at what an artist needs. Smudge to blend, drop glitter, mirror an eye look across the face, pin numbered products to your kit, and export a clean PDF the team on the day can actually follow.

The MUA face-chart workspace

ShootVision MUA workspace: face chart with categorised brush dock, palette, layers and live brush preview
The MUA face-chart workspace — categorised brush dock on the left, palette and layers on the right, live brush preview above the size and opacity sliders.

Custom brush dock built for MUA work

A categorised brush dock with presets for liners, brows & lashes, eye shadow and cheek work — fine liner, cat-eye, gel liner, kohl smudge, brow hair, brow fluff, single lash, lash cluster, shadow pencil, cream shadow, powder shadow, shimmer, crease blender, powder blusher and more. Each preset carries its own size, opacity, hardness and dynamics, with a live stroke preview at the top of the dock so you see exactly how the brush will lay down before you paint. Star your favourites to keep them at the top, search by name, and the dock remembers your last brush per artist.

Smudge brush, not just an eraser

The smudge tool blends and softens existing strokes the way a real fingertip blender does — fade the edge of a contour, blur a crease into the lid, soften a sharp brow line. Backed by an SVG erase mask so the PDF you hand to the team matches what you saw in the editor pixel-for-pixel.

Embellishments designed for editorial briefs

One-click stamps for glitter, diamantés, pearls, stars, hearts, foil, gems and sequins. Each stamp picks up the colour you've selected so they sit naturally inside the look. Rotation is randomised so a row of glitter never looks copy-pasted.

Mirror paint and lighting preview

Toggle Mirror and every stroke, embellishment and pin lands on both sides of the face automatically. Toggle Lighting to preview the look under daylight, tungsten or flash before you commit to swapping a shade.

Product pins linked to your kit

Drop a numbered pin on the chart, link it to a product in your kit, and the export's product list cross-references each pin to the exact tube. No more guessing which red lip from the kit was meant for shot 4.

Layers, lock & hide

Every annotation is a layer in a panel on the right. Hide layers to compare options, lock a finished section so a stray click can't shift it, and drag-reorder to bring a callout above a brush stroke. Hidden layers are skipped in PDF exports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I export face charts to a PDF the team can read on set?
Yes. Pro accounts can export an editable PDF rendered through the same SVG pipeline as the editor, so smudge blending, embellishments and product pins all appear in the export exactly as they do on screen.
Does the smudge tool actually erase or just paint over?
It actually erases. Smudge strokes are committed as an SVG mask layer on top of your paint, so the underlying chart and any image layer show through wherever you smudge — and the PDF export honours the same mask.
Can I link products from my kit to spots on the chart?
Yes. The Product Pin tool drops a numbered disc on the chart and asks you to pick a product from your kit. The number then cross-references the product list in your PDF so the artist on the day knows which product to grab.
